“Happy birthday to you,” is a popular refrain. We sing happy birthday to your children and those we love and admire. We bake cakes and decorate them with images and candles. We buy gifts to give the one whose birthday we are celebrating. The reminder of our birth is a big thing in lots of cultures. As one organization puts it, “being born has its privileges.” Well, it has even greater privileges.
Did you know it most communities in the United States; you can get many free things on your birthday? Most companies use this as an advertizing opportunity and you get the benefit. Stores such as Sonic, Texas Roadhouse, or Baskin Robins will give you free stuff on your birthday.
How does this work?
Some companies have set up clubs where you sign up. Then every year they send you a coupon for something they are going to give you free as a way to keep you coming back for more.
Other companies have reminder service. When you sign up, they let you know every year during your birthday that you can come in and get this or that free.
Here are some examples.
Baskin Robins, mentioned above, will give you a free 2.5 oz scoop of ice cream or a swirl of soft serve.
Here is one way you can take advantage of this. Keep in mind this is according to your area.
After your celebration at home, you get dressed and go out for the evening.
You stop at Black Angus Steakhouse where you get a BOGO (buy one get one free) dinner up to $20.00.
After dinner, you go to the Brunswick Bowling lanes and you can bowl two free games.
Next, you stop off at Starbucks of a freebee.
You then stop off at Old Navy and get that pullover you wanted for $10 dollars off.
You finish the night at Dairy Queen for a BOGO free mini, small, or medium blizzard.
And, you thought you were only going to get a cake and some ice cream. Or maybe you got a new pair of socks. With a little research, you can make a night of it and it won’t cost you nearly as much. All you have to do in most places is just present your ID and prove you were born so many years ago on this day. What a bargain and you only had to be born.
